It's raining!

Sorry everyone...I was a t girls camp and o it took me awhile to get these up.  Hope you enjoy them!  Michelle

Hi everybody! This week was kind of a slow one, but it was good as well.  It must have been just what I needed, cause I swear the mission had a holiday I wasn't aware of that was focused on just giving me compliments.  Or maybe I look like I have low self esteem... I dunno.  Anyways, I had my first interview with President Perry, and it was great.  He told me that I "intrigued him", because I act like a seasoned missionary.  He says I'm the kind of missionary that mission presidents beg for.  He also commented on some of my spiritual gifts, and things like that.

Then we had a zone meeting, and I was asked to do a musical number.  They have me do something at every zone meeting I swear, so I had to do something that I haven't done before, and I had already used up my bag of tricks... which means I had to arrange something new. I put together my own arrangement of "A Poor Wayfaring Man", and I it went really well! I was surprised actually, because I was really nervous.  One of the elders told me that it wasn't until he heard me play that he understood that scripture in D&C "the song of the righteous is a prayer unto me...".  How nice is that? Made me feel pretty good.

We also had a crazy rainstorm.  Utah has never seen rain like Virginia sees rain.  It was like someone was literally pouring buckets... And the timing of it couldn't have been better.  We were just coming out of playing soccer at the end of the day, and we were with all the elders, and I was the first one out there jumping in puddles.  Most of them joined me eventually... I have a picture, but not on my camera.  I'll try to send one next week.  It was intense.  There was so much water that the asphalt turned into a slip-n-slide and I could run and penguin down for like 7 feet.  It was siiiiiiick.

Oh - Kristen had her baby this week! He was born on his due date - the 31st of July.  Pretty cool!!! His name is Gabriel Scott, and he is beautiful.  I am so happy for Kristen and Jeremy.  They are such a cute happy little family!

We have the musical fireside coming up on Sunday! I'm nervous! I am doing a bunch of stuff for it, and we also have a really full roster with lots of participation.  We were street contacting the other day at this event downtown Harrisonburg, and I talked to this guy who has been writing Christian Gospel music for 50 years! I asked him to play and he said he would.  SWEET HUH?! So I'm looking forward to that.  There is also this non member the elders have been working with, his name is Bart, and he is just an AMAZING musician.  Super talented on the guitar, writes songs, sings, the works.  He and I got together, and he is playing my medley with me for the fireside.  He wrote a guitar part for it that is awesome. I will have to record it or something for you to hear, because I'm super excited about it.  It's neat to get to work with so many people on this.  Bart is like me, he plays by ear, and just feels music.  He can pick up ANYTHING in just one or two takes.  He said that he is very impressed with the way I arrange things, and that it has taken him more like 10 to get it down perfect.  Cool yeah? Made me feel good. So look forward to next monday's update on the fireside - and wish me luck! Pray that people come and that I don't screw it up! :)

Sunday was a really long day, as they always are, but it was good as well.  I had this prompting to encourage Kristen to bare her testimony, so I did.  I'll admit I was a little surprised when she got up, but she did it!  It was wonderful.  It's funny how little things like that make it on to the highlights of your day. It really was though.  She is so strong and amazing.

Well, that's about it for this week.  I attached a picture of me in my glasses... so yay.... If I look tired, it's because I got 4 hours of sleep last night.  Yikes. I also attached a picture of Sister Wride and Elder Munson downtown at our finding activity.  There is a crazy dancing lady behind them.  She was super entertaining!

Alright, that's all from me for this week.  Love you all!
