I started a prayer journal back in september. I wasn't so sure about it, because I've never done it before. I was going through it just the other night, and I am just blown away at how my prayers have been answered. It's truly incredible. If you want to strengthen your testimony about prayer - try this! It's interesting to me to read in the scriptures about how we will get the things that we ask for in faith, but it has to be according to the will of God. So if we pray for the spirit to guide our prayers, and act in faith, then we can more easily see the answers to these prayers in our lives. I don't know if that makes sense... but it's been a big testimony builder for me lately.
We have transfers coming up next week. I really don't want to leave my area. I feel like it's just finally picking up!!
I am learning a lot about the vitality of members in this work. I'm also learning about planting seeds, even though sometimes we don't get to see the fruit that those seeds will one day bear. We got the chance to teach the combined sunday school lesson the last week in September. I loved it and was so grateful for the chance to do that. After praying over what the Lord wanted me to teach about, I decided to teach out of Preach My Gospel about the importance of the Book of Mormon and how to use it in converting ourselves and others to the truth. We brought a box a Books of Mormon for people to take. Not a lot of people did... but a few. Well, about 2 weeks ago, a young man in our ward gave one to his friend. It was the very Book of Mormon that he got in our lesson, and because of that lesson, he prayed over this opportunity to give it to her - and he just did it. We followed up with him, and went on splits to her house, and one thing led to the other, and now she and her boyfriend have a baptism date for december 1st. Cool huh? Members are so vital in this work. It's incredible to see the gospel change people's lives.
As I mentioned to most of you, the storm didn't really affect us here. Just lots of disaster preparation for a rain storm... we lost power for a bit, but that's about all. We were lucky.
Well, next week when I email you'll find out if I'm staying in H'burg or moving somewhere else in the mission! I'll let you know! Love you all. Thanks for all you do, for your prayers and support and all that good stuff.
Love you,
sis Skousen
