Hey everyone! So this week is much like the others, slow, but good. We had some success tracting and got a few people to allow us to return to teach them. I actually like street contacting and tracting a lot. Not many people do.... The more walking I do the better I feel. I hate being in the car, because nobody is gonna notice that we are missionaries and flag us down and beg to be taught the gospel. When we are out on the street however, we get to talk to so many more people. I love it.
We had a surprise on sunday, when one of our investigators who has kinda dropped us the past 2 weeks randomly showed up at church and signed up to go on the ward DC temple trip. Miracles happen! I was so happy I almost cried.
I will have the opportunity once again to use music tomorrow. I was approached by a ward member who I just love yesterday at church, and she asked if I would put together a specific musical number for a funeral tomorrow. It's really sad, because it's for a 23 year old boy who just died very suddenly. She said she had a prompting to ask me to play "I Wonder When He Comes Again." And here's the interesting part. I had a prompting about 4 days ago that I should start creating an arrangement of that particular song - so I DID. I told her I would take care of it. And I am going to play and elder Lovin is going to sing. I feel like this will be a very special opportunity to bring the spirit and share the gospel with a mourning family who are all less active or non members. I am also playing prelude music. It will be held at a church building and denomination I have never been to or heard of before... so it will be interesting. I can't help but feel a sense of gratitude for this responsibility and opportunity. Please wish me luck!
We have mission conference next week and elder Whiting is coming to speak to us. I am so excited!
Other than that... We did some more chalking down in court square in H'burg. We do it kind of a lot, like every other week, but we usually get some pretty decent referrals from it. And people like to stop and see what all these dressed up kids are drawing. When they realize we are religious they either head for the hills, comment on how sucky our artwork is, or make a half-hearted promise to visit the website. I love it.
Anyways, the work is slow, but it's going good. We are constantly trying to find people to teach. I know that there are people here that are ready and waiting... we just need to find them! Love you all so much. Talk to you next week!
Love
Sister Skousen
